CNR 2013: Lectures: Martin Dlouhý (CZE)

Robotour - robotika.cz outdoor delivery challenge, is a contest of autonomous robots navigating paved park roads. The contest originates from Czech Republic - it started in Prague, park Stromovka in 2006. Since then, the robots as well as the rules evolved. All robots start simultaneously, so besides the on-road navigation, obstacle avoidance is also crucial. In the last couple of years, there is also a mandatory payload (five liter barrel).

The contest is open to everybody: the participants range from hobby roboticists to PhD university students and researchers. Also the robotic platforms vary from home-made carts with a web camera and a notebook to expensive commercial platforms with the latest sensor technology.

The contest is annual, on falls. There is no registration fee, but a "homologation video" is required in advance to demonstrate that the robot exists, it is capable of basic motion and fulfills safety requirements.

Robotour is planned to tour-de-Europe, although at the moment most of the teams are from Czech Republic and the contest locations are not too far (max 8h of travel) from Prague. Robotour already visited Brno (Czech Republic, 2009), Bratislava (Slovakia, 2010), Vienna (Austria, 2011) and Lodz (Poland, 2013). The next contest will be in Plzen (Czech Republic) in September 2014.
