Abstract: A New Technology for an Old Dream -
Robots, Golems, and Vice Versa
The concept of present-days robotics is rooted in the ancient
concepts present in dreams and perhaps also in attempts to
construct things called human-like golems. In the contribution we
will try to support this idea in certain extent by a couple of
quotations, observations, and perhaps by few of our own ideas, too.
We will start from Karel Capek's imagination, towards the author of
the word robot, Josef Capek (Karel's brother), who gave also the
visual form of first robots in 1921, and we will continue with
earlier past and the today present of the idea.
