CNR 2014: Exhibition: Theo Costantini (FRA): The Daleks
As a designer and programmer Theo has worked on various projects like website or fun web-application.
In his free time he designs and paint various things. He likes to experiment different styles and techniques when he creates something, such as vector illustration or splatter paint.
The Daleks
Great fan of the new Doctor Who series, Theo wanted to pay a
tribute to one of the most iconic characters in the series by
making a propaganda-like poster.
In the series, the characters want to enslave all races of the universe. They show no mercy to other peoples of the world. Their motto: Daleks do not fear, must not fear.
The idea behind this poster was to show both the violence of the characters and his comic side. The use of the red and yellow colors, which reminds the old Russian propaganda posters, brings out the power of the character while the robot looks like an old pile of old scrap.
Theo: "In the series, the Daleks are the most feared race in the universe. Not only they are almost invincible, but they are also very powerful. This is in contrast to their appearance of old tin, which is both funny and scary: something that looks so old and rusty can really be the biggest danger in the universe?"
