CNR 2014: Exhibition: Higher Vocational School in Stìtí (CZE): Robot Artik
Robot Artík
The first ideas about the construction of a mobile robot were
created already during their common study on Higer Vocation School
in Stìtí. The first Artík was created as a bachelor thesis on
University of Jan Evangelista Purkynì in Ústí nad Labem. The next
version was created for the dissertation on Technical University of
Liberec, where Martin created and programmed the robot and Ludìk
created the robotic manipulator. Then, the robot was moved to
Higher Vocational School in Stìtí where he now serves as an
attraction and a teaching aid. The robot has attended lots of
children's days, open days, and other events. He likes children and
computing easy arithmetical problems with them.
Currently, the robot can: recognize human speech using predefined vocal commands, and speak using human speech synthesis, both in Czech and English language. He can answer simple questions, like telling the time, he can compute and give problems, he can move hands, grab items, move his head, and move himself. In addition, he can search arbitrary subject on Wikipedia and tell it to the questioner.
