CNR 2014: Exhibition: Andy Fairhurst (GBR): Robocop

I'm Andy and I currently live in gorgeous North Wales with my wife and 3 kids. I'm a digital painter, which means I paint on my trusty iMac via a digital pen and tablet. I like to paint anything from fantasy and sci-fi to humorous cartoons. A lot of my works have been featured in magazines, in books and on book covers and I have received many awards from art websites such as devianART and CGSociety.

I am currently working on Official BBC licensed Doctor Who artwork depicting the many Women of Who over its last 50 years.

I have also written a children's novel, which I am extremely proud of and I'm in the process of painting promotional artwork for it.

Robocop
"For me the design of Robocop was all about the helmet. When I first saw the film I remember thinking that helmet with it's shape, pose and lines, complimented what you could see of his face perfectly. So much so that when I saw Murphy without his helmet I wanted him to put it back on immediately.

The eyes show emotion, and I don't want to see emotion in a robot man. I have always found masks in film and TV very cool. And to this day I still find the look of that helmet together with the pout, immensely cool."
