CNR 2013: Exhibition: Zaven Pare (FRA)

Zaven Paré lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. He is a performer artist, currently doing machine art. He staged "The Theater of the Ears" in 1999 at CalArts (Californian Institute of the Arts) in LA, and later in New York at LaMama e.t.c. during the Henson Festival, including Valère Novarina's clone as an electronic puppet (Ballard Institute collection, Connecticut). In 2009-2011, its exhibition "Cyber Art" was on tour in five Brazilian cities.

He was awarded a residency at Villa Kujoyama as well as a grant from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science while working as Robot Drama Researcher on theatre repertoire for humanoids and androids in the Robotics Laboratory directed by Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro. In 2011, he received Brazil's Sergio Motta Art and Technology Award for his body of artistic work created using new technologies.

The Spleen + Robots
Linoleum engravings of robots and the installation The Spleen by Zaven Paré will be shown during the Cafe Neu Romance festival (27-30 November 2013) at the Galerie NTK.
