Cafe Neu Romance is a creative platform for robotics innovation

The program of Cafe Neu Romance has a special focus on what combines Prague with robots, and to create a context where people from different robot positions can meet.

It was in Prague that Karel Capek wrote the play R.U.R. in 1920 where the word robot is from, that the myth on Golem is strongest, and it is there you can discover some of the figures of the Astronomical Clock, one of the finest examples of robotics art from the medival age, perform every hour. Beside of that, the City has got a great tradition for puppetry and animation. Plus can showcase some great examples of robotic/kinetic art works in Public spaces.

However, often you'll need a further introduction to these stories or works. This is the reason why Cafe Neu Romance want to make the unvisible in Prague visible at the festival either in lectures and presentations of ex. Jozef Kelemen, Jana Horakova, Jiri Barta, Ivo Kristián Kubák, Petr Skala, and Louis Armand, by art works of Vladimir Zimakov, Sigrid Rødli, Terri Ogle, The Golem Mythology, Mariusz Dobies, Andras Nagy, Simon Raffy, Verner Brems and Phuc Van Dang, animation and film by Jiri Barta & Edgar Dutka, Old Prague Legends, Engineered Arts and Vive Les Robots!, plus music from Dek. Modern Czech expressions of robots has also been showcased in the works of Stanley Povoda, Jindrich Vodicka, Higher Vocational School in Stìtí, Martin Zadradnik, and others.

The Czech Industrial Designer Jindrich Vodicka presented his TVOR robot at Cafe Neu Romance 2013.

At Cafe Neu Romance people from different positions related to robots and robotics meet with each other. Here persons from companies and institutions as LEGO Group, ABB Robotics, can meet leading Czech and European robotics researchers like  Martin Saska, Martin Necas, Vojtech Vonasek, David Johan Christensen, Kasper Støy, Manfred Hild Stephane Bonardi, Sven Stumm Jean-Bapiste Mouret, and artists, architects, designers, film directors, producers and musicians like France Cadet, Fernando Orellana, Matthew Gardiner, Zaven Pare, Suguru GotoDmitry Morozov, Phil Ayres Zuzana Husarova, Olga Pek, Bernie Stern, Joey Daoud, Michael Garrigues, Per Holmquist, Opificio Sonico and Fabrizio Carli, who again can meet DIY-people like Anouk Wipprecht, Daniel Schatzmayr, Zwax, Magnus Wurzer, Martin Dlouhý, Radioklub Pisek, RUR-Team, and many others.

This is unique, because normally the companies focus on traditional trade fairs, artists on galleries, film directors for film festivals, musicians for clubs and DIY-people for maker-events.

The program for the 6th edition of Cafe Neu Romance will be released during summer/autumm 2017, where we again will present a strong mix of different robot players from the international and local stage in Czech Republic.
